The use of the mask will be mandatory for all children in the next school year 2020-2021, which tentatively will begin on August 10, said the head of the Ministry of Public Education, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán.

In an interview with Pascal Beltrán del Río for Imagen Radio, the Federal Secretary of Public Education emphasized that it does not matter that the mask is made at home, but that the children wear it so that everyone is protected.
"The start of 2020-2021 is scheduled for August 10, but this is a referential date because if at that time a federal entity is still in yellow, orange or red, it will not be recommended to open any school."
"We are going to ask that the mask be compulsory, it can be made at home as a scarf and with two garters ... when there are masks widely used, there is a great reduction in the possibility of any type of contagion and not only of coronavirus, but of influenza and other infections, "he said.
Esteban Moctezuma also spoke about the start of the next school year, which is scheduled for August 10, where he reiterated that the start date will depend on the epidemiological traffic light being green, in addition to clarifying that the start date of classes is referential.
"And it will not necessarily be national. This means that each state, which has its own curve, will make its decisions ... the 2019-2020 school year has already concluded with the evaluation activities and the start of 2020-2021 is scheduled for August 10, but this is a referential date because if at that moment a federal entity is still in yellow, orange or red, it is not going to be recommended to open any school ”, he specified.
Grading 2019-2020
Referring to the delivery of grades for the school year that is currently concluding, he commented that it will be electronically, and in places where they cannot be delivered by this means, other alternatives will be used, such as the telephone.
He noted that the delivery of grades and evaluations is done digitally:
"And in the case of some community where there is no possibility to do so, all the evaluations are already digitized and will be given back to school but will be communicated by phone," he said.
